Show Rings and Arenas

Step past the sideshow games and you’ll find the serious business of the Show: prime beef and dairy on parade, impeccably groomed goats, nimble-footed horses, pavilion entries polished to perfection, immaculately preened poultry, pampered pets and the rhythmic thunder of the woodchop. This is where blue ribbons are earned, stock reputations rise, and craftsmanship takes centre stage.

Beef Cattle

Saturday sees the spotlight shift to beef cattle judging, which kicks-off at 8.30am with the European breeds. The British Breeds competition follows. The Paraders and the Junior Steer Pointscore Competitions enable younger participants to get involved with classes for participants of all ages.

The beef cattle section draws to a close with the Trade Hoof Competition that is open to steers & heifers, which will later be sold at auction. Just like the dairy cattle, the beef cattle judging takes place on the Cattle Lawn next to the Poultry Pavilion.

Dairy Cattle

The local Berry area has long been known for its rich dairy country so it’s fitting that the cattle judging starts with the dairy category.

Judging begins at 9am on Friday, showcasing a top-notch exhibition of the major dairy breeds. The judging will take place on the Cattle Lawn next to the Poultry Pavilion.

Angora Goats

Goats have been an integral part of the Berry Show since the 1980s. Presently, the show features classes exclusively for Angora goats, which take place on the Saturday. The judging kicks off at 10am within the Goat Shed. These classes encompass fleece and animal categories, along with special provisions for young enthusiasts aged 10 to 19, offering Junior Handler and Junior Judging classes.

Horses

Berry Show always attracts a large number of horse exhibits over the two full days. The Showjumping programme runs on both days from 7.30am and successful riders earn points towards their South Coast and Tablelands Showjumping Pointscore. The horse program commences on Friday with led and ridden classes on Saturday starting at 8.30am.

Judging will be conducted in four rings within the McGoldrick Main Arena.

Pavilion

Open from 9am - 7pm Friday & Saturday.

If it can be grown or made you'll find an entry in one of the myriad sections in the Pavilion for it. From fruit, vegetables and produce, plants and flowers to cooking, crafts and art. Juniors are included (from pre-school up). The Ionie Atkins Memorial, is awarded to the most successful exhibitor in at least two sections of the Pavilion.

Go and have a look - you’ll be impressed by the quality of the exhibits and maybe you’ll be inspired to enter an exhibit at the 2025 Berry Show.
