
Each year, the AgShows NSW Young Woman Competition seeks to find an ambassador for rural New South Wales and the agricultural show movement. Open to women aged 18–26 who reside in NSW, the competition celebrates community involvement, leadership, and a passion for agriculture.

Jasmine Shirlaw is a 20-year-old student currently in her second year at Wollongong University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design. Her academic journey reflects her dedication to both creative and practical disciplines, as she seeks to blend her design expertise with agricultural knowledge.
Jasmine is a versatile and motivated individual who shares a strong connection with her community and the environment. She has extensive experience in horse care and coaching, with a particular focus on promoting animal welfare, safety, and responsible management. Her goal is to advocate for sustainability and raise awareness within the community by combining her practical skills with her academic background.
Jasmine’s love for horses is evident in her wide-ranging equestrian experience. She is skilled in dressage, showing, vaulting, and showjumping, and also enjoys casual bush and beach rides. Her hands-on involvement with horses has fostered a deep appreciation for both the animals and the landscapes they inhabit.
Alongside her passion for the arts and design, Jasmine enjoys walking her dogs and being with family, whether that be surfing, fishing or playing golf with them. These activities reflect her commitment to maintaining a balanced lifestyle and nurturing relationships with loved ones.
Jasmine is actively involved in her community through volunteering with the Berry Riding Club. She offers support and shares her knowledge by coaching young riders, contributing to the development of future equestrians and fostering a spirit of community service.
Jasmine is determined to expand her knowledge and skills in agriculture while continuing to coach young people in horse management and animal welfare. She aims to use her degree to benefit her local community and leverage her artistic abilities to become an advocate for agriculture and sustainability.
Jasmine entered the Young Woman Competition with the hope of finding new confidence in herself, showcasing her passion for the area, and demonstrating her dedication to agriculture.
